Recently I have continued reading the book fun inc.. The whole book fun inc. is about the misunderstood and unknown facts about videogames. I think that many people would see videogames in a different light if they read this book. Hopefully adults would see them better than they are. The book gives pros and cons to video games which I thought was interesting.
The bad facts about videogames are mind blowing. They have to put seizure warnings before a lot of the games because they tend to do that to to kids sometimes, especially if they sit too close to the television. They also put those there because if something like that were to happen they can't get sued because there was a warning for it. Another thing that can happen with usually violent videogames, is a child would find it so realistic to the point where they would feel the urge to do it in person. For example a child in Mississippi played a game where you go and shoot police in the sheriffs office and get points for it. The boy wanted to to try it in real life but after they tried to calm him down at the sheriffs office and after three fatally wounded cops they had to shoot him.
But there is good news too. Not all hope is lost. It actually speeds up children's reaction times.
Kids who play videogames often have speedier reactions and ones who dont play have slower reaction times. Also some games have things that kids can learn from even though it is covered with violence. For example the Assassins Creed series is of course about an assassins journey but in every game you meet historical characters and go through time periods, for example the revolutionary war. You meet people like Machiavelli, leonardo davinci, Thomas Jefferson and Samuel Addams in all of the different games. And the non violent games help kids expand their imagination.
I think that overall there are pros and cons to videogames. That probably would make games neutral but yet give some leveling to some parents and might give them second thoughts, too. I for myself play video games and I think that I have might have gotten quicker withmy reaction times and I might have learn something from the videogames I play.
You bring up some great points, but you should take away opinions from the first paragraph
